Employee participation

Appropriate design and use of participation is essential for effective employee participation. Each organisation requires its own approach. We support both entrepreneurs and participation bodies in all facets of employee participation. The objective is to achieve optimal and, above all, meaningful participation.


Adding value

Participation is often seen as a necessary evil. Just getting the obligatory stamp. This detracts from the value that employee participation can bring to the company. A misconception is that the interests of employees and the entrepreneur are opposed to each other. From both an employee and entrepreneur perspective, the importance of an optimally functioning organisation is essentially what it's all about. Keeping that in mind, we look for effective participation with the entrepreneur and/or participation body. Participation that actually adds value.


Moving forward together

We naturally know the legal playing field and guide both entrepreneurs and participation bodies in all facets of employee participation. In doing so, we are particularly mindful of the interrelationship between the parties involved. Moving forward together is the starting point.


What we do

  • We advise on appropriate participation structures. We know the classic forms (for example Works Council, Central Works Council, Employee Representative Body and staff meeting), but we also look at innovative forms. What is effective and what suits your organisation?

  • We set up employee participation structures and we draft all the necessary documents (e.g. works council standing orders).

  • We advise on the role and position of employee participation in decision-making within the company. Also within complex international group structures where decision-making takes place abroad.

  • We guide advisory and consent processes from A to Z. We do this for entrepreneurs as well as for participation bodies. We know and understand both sides.

  • We assist European Works Councils. We know the particular forces at play at the European level.

  • We have knowledge and experience with regard to operating within the 'golden triangle', participation, governance and supervision. This requires an entirely unique approach and strategy.

  • We provide training to entrepreneurs and members of participation bodies on the role and position of participation within the organisation.

  • We mediate between entrepreneur and participation bodies.

  • We conduct proceedings before the subdistrict court and the Netherlands Enterprise Court for and against participation bodies, but only when this is unavoidable. Mediation by a joint sectoral committee of the SER is also an option.
